Route 30 – 20th Anniversary

May 16, 2027

It’s hard to believe that 20 years have passed since Franklin County native and Totem Pole favorite John Putch returned home to film his independent feature, Route 30. The movie went on to play 37 film festivals, earn 15 major awards, and inspire two sequels—while keeping its roots firmly planted right here in Franklin County. Totem Pole has a special place in the film’s history, too: an entire chapter was filmed inside the Playhouse. “I really hope to raise money and awareness for the Totem Pole Playhouse in Caledonia State Park,” John said. “It’s an important part of my life and of this area.” Join us for a fun and nostalgic afternoon as we revisit Route 30 on the big screen, followed by a lively Q&A with John and many of the actors who are making the journey back to the Pole for this special 20th anniversary celebration. Come ready to laugh, reminisce, hear some behind-the-scenes stories, and celebrate a homegrown film—and the community that helped make it happen.
