Mary Louise Lucas
She is a proud Chambersburg native who graduated from CASHS and Shippensburg State College (now S.U.) with both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Elementary Education. She is married to Chuck Lucas — they are the parents of 2 adult daughters, both of whom worked at Totem Pole through-out high school and college, and the grandparents of 4 grandchildren. She is a member of St Paul U.M. Church where she sings in the Chancel Choir.
Mary Louise began an interest in Totem Pole in the mid-50s when her parents regularly brought her to plays as a child at the “theater on the hill” (across Rt. 30 from our current location). She began working as an usherette in junior high school, became head usher through her college years, and was a house manager about 6 years ago. She now continues to serve T.P. as a member of the Board of Directors and by helping out any way she can where it is needed. She loves the ‘magic’ of the theater and seeing the final product of newly-constructed sets and actors come together for an awesome experience. “I feel T.P. is worth every effort we can ALL give to preserve it for current and future generations to treasure and enjoy. It offers quality entertainment and is a cultural icon right here in our very midst. I feel it is under-appreciated locally by many.”
