Overview

Mary McDonough Visits Totem Pole

October 23–24, 2027

Spend a very special evening with actress, author, filmmaker, and speaker Mary McDonough, best known to generations of television audiences as Erin Walton on the beloved series The Waltons, a role she played for nine seasons and 221 episodes. This landmark family drama remains treasured for its stories of family, resilience, and community—but this evening goes beyond Walton’s Mountain to explore Mary’s remarkable life and career in the arts.

Mary will be joined onstage by her dear longtime friend, director and filmmaker John Putch, who has worked with Mary on several television-movie projects over the years. “Erin Walton was always my favorite Walton child,” John says, “and now I’ll have the pleasure of sitting down with Mary onstage at Totem Pole.” Together, they’ll look back at what it was like for Mary to grow up on one of television’s most iconic shows, share stories from their years in the entertainment industry, and explore her work as an accomplished novelist and filmmaker. Featuring clips, rarely seen stills, candid conversation, and an audience Q&A, this warm and intimate event promises an inside look at a truly unique life in the arts—shared between two longtime friends.
