Costume Shop Manager/Stitcher:

The Costume Shop Manager oversees the construction, organization, and management of costumes for Totem Pole Playhouse’s fast-paced 5-show summer season. This position collaborates closely with designers, supervises all aspects of costume construction and stock usage, and ensures timely delivery of costumes and wardrobe assets. Strong leadership, costume construction expertise, and excellent communication skills are essential for success in this role. This position reports to the Producer and may work alongside other technical crew members as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organize build and fitting schedules to ensure all costumes and wardrobe assets are completed and delivered on time.
  • Assist in a hands-on capacity with the construction, pulling, and acquisition of all costumes and wardrobe needs for productions. 
  • Maintain and manage materials and labor budgets for all costume-related expenses.
  • Oversee fittings with guest artists and ensure compliance with all costume-related aspects of the CBA with AEA.
  • Supervise the wardrobe crew, ensuring accurate daily show paperwork and costume maintenance.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors, including rental houses, wholesalers, and local over-hire resources.
  • Flag and communicate when shop capacity may not meet the scope of a production’s design.
  • Participate in daily wardrobe show prep and clean-up after the opening of Beautiful.
  • Perform other duties traditionally associated with this job title in live theatrical production.
  • Resourcing our “Tucked Away Tuesday series and Camp Series” as needed

Requirements:

  • Proven expertise in costume construction and administration, proficient stitching skills required..
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a variety of personalities and display strong leadership skills.
  • Physical capability to work on tall ladders, lift at least 30 lbs., and manage long, physically demanding hours.
  • Comfort working with vintage and dusty fabrics.
  • Must be a capable driver with a valid driver’s license.

 

Weekly Salary Range $475-575 DEO

 

Stitcher:

The Stitcher supports the Costume Shop Manager in the daily activities of the costume shop and assists with the fabrication, modification, and acquisition of costumes for Totem Pole Playhouse’s fast-paced 5-show season. Applicants must have strong stitching skills, experience in costume or clothing construction, and familiarity with costume-related technology. This position reports to the Costume Shop Manager and works closely with the costume shop team to ensure the success of all productions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the completion of costume packages for all productions.
  • Assist with the load-in and load-out of costume assets to and from dressing rooms.
  • Pull costumes from stock and help maintain costume inventory.
  • Support the Costume Shop Manager with various projects as needed.
  • Help monitor expenditures and ensure the shop is equipped with necessary materials.
  • Perform other duties traditionally associated with this job title in live theatrical production.
  • Resourcing our “Tucked Away Tuesday series and Camp Series” as needed

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in stitching and costume construction techniques.
  • Physical capability to work on tall ladders, lift at least 30 lbs., and handle long, physically demanding hours.
  • Comfort working with vintage and dusty fabrics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other tech crew members on various projects as directed by the Producer.

 

Weekly Salary Range $400-500 DEO

 

Wardrobe Supervisor:

The Wardrobe Supervisor supports the Costume Shop Manager by maintaining costumes throughout the run of Totem Pole Playhouse’s 5-show season. This position requires attendance at all performances as part of the run crew and maintaining “day work” hours for show prep and costume maintenance. This position reports to the Costume Shop Manager and works closely with the wardrobe and production teams to ensure a seamless and professional backstage operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and facilitate costume changes backstage during technical rehearsals and performances.
  • Maintain costumes and dressing rooms, ensuring a clean and organized workspace.
  • Perform daily show laundry and costume upkeep.
  • Assist in the costume shop with stitching, alterations, and maintaining costume stock, as needed.
  • Create and maintain wardrobe show track paperwork during tech for the wardrobe crew.
  • Perform other duties traditionally associated with this job title in live theatrical production.
  • Resourcing our “Tucked Away Tuesday series and Camp Series” as needed

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of costume care, maintenance, and backstage wardrobe operations.
  • Physical capability to work on tall ladders, lift at least 30 lbs., and manage long, physically demanding hours.
  • Comfort working with vintage and dusty fabrics.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other tech crew members on various projects as directed by the Producer.

 

Weekly Salary Range $450-550 DEO

 

Hair & Wardrobe Assistant:

The Hair & Wardrobe Assistant supports the Wardrobe Supervisor in maintaining costumes and wigs throughout the run of Totem Pole Playhouse’s 5-show season. This position requires attendance at all performances as part of the run crew, as well as assisting with day-to-day costume and wig maintenance. This position reports to the Wardrobe Supervisor and works closely with the costume and hair teams to ensure seamless backstage operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with costume changes backstage during technical rehearsals and performances.
  • Support the upkeep and organization of costumes and dressing rooms.
  • Perform daily show laundry and ensure costumes are performance-ready.
  • Assist with wig maintenance, including styling, resetting, and minor repairs.
  • Help with wig fittings, ensuring proper labeling and organization of hairpieces.
  • Prepare wigs and hairpieces for each performance, including pre-setting and securing them on actors.
  • Ensure proper storage and cleanliness of wigs, hair accessories, and styling tools.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of wardrobe and wig areas.
  • Assist in the costume shop with stitching, alterations, and maintaining costume stock, as needed.
  • Perform other duties traditionally associated with this job title in live theatrical production.
  • Resourcing our “Tucked Away Tuesday series and Camp Series” as needed

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of costume care and backstage operations.
  • Familiarity with wig styling and maintenance is preferred.
  • Physical capability to work on tall ladders, lift at least 30 lbs., and handle long, physically demanding hours.
  • Comfort working with vintage and dusty fabrics.
  • Strong organizational and collaboration skills to work effectively with other tech crew members and cast.

 

Weekly Salary Range $450-550 DOE
