Frequently Asked Questions
What is the camper-to-counselor ratio?
For 2024, we plan to use a system of 12 students per Teaching Artist.
How much time do the campers spend outside?
The majority of camp activities take place outside, on the grounds of Totem Pole Playhouse and in shaded areas. Some classes may take place inside our Rehearsal Hall, also on property.
Does the camp provide lunch/snacks or do parents need to provide them?
Parents need to send their students with a water bottle, lunch, and a snack each day. Please refrain from sending peanut and tree nut products due to allergies. We will provide some additional snacks (with ingredient lists), a variety taking common allergies into consideration.
What is the typical daily schedule for campers?
Camp begins at 9am (arriving by 8:45 am) with warmups and group theatre games and activities. Then there is a Masterclass topic and workshop each day. These include topics like stage
combat, acting techniques, backstage crafts, and more! After lunch the students work in their groups with their director on their theatrical scenes that will be shared with family and friends at the conclusion of each camp.
How old are the counselors and how are they trained?
Our staff consists of one Teacher/Camp Lead and two Teacher/Assistants. This group of teachers are all college-aged adults or older who have experience as actors, teachers, performers, and/or
directors with Totem Pole Playhouse. All Teaching Artists and staff must complete background checks to work at Summer Camp.
How is the camp addressing Covid compliance this summer?
For 2024, we will be following all CDC and / or local Guidelines during camp.
